Mike, how are you attaching the E1 to your RRS plate? I've got the plate for my 5D (and soon for my 40D), and am curious.

I just checked the RRS site for the 5D plate and it also has the lug where you can attach the bottom end of the E1 strap:

The strap just loops through that lug, just like the 40D plate.

Thanks Mike. It looks like RRS has modified the base plate for the 5D. The one that I have is missing the part where the strap can be looped.

It looks like this hand strap is only for shooting in landscape mode. How about one that can be used for portrait mode as well (i.e. hand holding the grip)?

I no longer use a neck strap at all. Shooting in portrait is fine, you just have to freegrip the camera.

If you must know...

I just got my new Canon E-1 Handstrap and all I can say is wow. I got two, one for my 20D and one for my 40D. I don't know why I waited so long or how I've lived this long without one. Well actually I do know why...lol. I didn't know they had one until I came here to the forum, frustrated with my kneck strap. This strap is amazing and I highly recommend it. It really relieves the stress on the hand and wrist when trying to hold the camera without the strap!

Thanks to all those that recommended

I just ordered battery grip last night for my new 40d. I plan to order E-1 handstrap soon. I ordered it after reading how much everyone loves it. I better be happy with it! Isn't this forum wonderful? Great advices!

Bought it at a local shop about 4 years ago and used to use it on my Film rebel...use it on my xt with grip now with a neck strap and love it.

Just for reference to those that have the Hakuba like me. I recently ordered the Phottix BP-40D grip for my 30D. The Hakuba won't be usable in this situation. I am looking to buy a Canon E-1 strap when I have the Phottix grip on.

I HTH.
