So I was bored tonight and I wanted to show the difference between a proper, +1 Stop and +2 stop difference in exposure shot at 1600 ISO.

I know there have been tons of posts like this, but I have never made one :D

lol First one is proper shot , the 2nd one is where i had to lighten it up by 1 stop and the 3rd is by 2 stops.

(Action that was taken: Import Raw, Adjust WB, proper exposure, export to Jpeg.)

Links are to the full size images for viewing.

1. 1600 ISO Proper

2. 1600 ISO 1 Stop

3. 1600 ISO 2 Stop

Just goes to show how important it is to get a proper exposure when using high ISO.

lol absolutely ZERO NR done. NR was turned off in camera, and ZERO applied in LR.

Thanks

(PS: You read my procedure right? Raw, Import, WB, export to Jpeg, Uploaded to Flickr, Post Link)

Hope that helps

I sure hope so. I really like my 40D, and giving up some of its newer features is going to be tough.

yeah I would say the biggest thing I miss is the Custom Functions Dial. I used that for shooting sports all the time. It was nice to turn the dial for action down the court, then coming back I could easily and quickly turn it back to normal position.

It was nice lol

But for the speed, durability, feel and AF it is well worth it to me.

ISO wise it is about the same to be honest. They both do a solid job

Here are some more shots. This time I only did 1600 ISO. 1st shot is proper exposure, 2nd shot is 1 stop over exposed.

(again no NR was applied, everything was zero, including sharpening. No Auto WB this time)

1. Proper

In shooting as most of you know it is better to overexpose your shot by at least +1 EV if you can as it really really cuts down on noise.

They may have been posted before, but I missed them. Thanks for the post.

np. Thanks for looking :) Just goes to show that the 1D Mark II does a wonderful job when you expose properly or even overexpose.

Well these pics look like all the pics you post and they always look like they have NR done.
If they dont, then youve got the best performing MkII ever made. Better than any MkIII ive ever laid hands on.

Definitely NR being done somewhere. 3200 shot has no detail and no noise.
