I had a text from my wife at 3:30pm yesterday afternoon. All it said was...

"The next 2 hours are going to go by so slow for you."

I knew it. Santa UPS had stopped by. My constant refreshing, willing of the UPS tracking system to deliver the following to my home.

A little bit closer to seeing the prize...

OOOOO... what is hidden beneath the extra bubble pouches?

Now, it's just a matter of figuring out the 'inaugural' first shot of the new 5D. Yes, it has been over 24 hours since opening the packages, and I still haven't shot with the camera yet. I tried out the new lenses on the 20D, that's as far as I have gotten.

So, my wishlist has been realized... momentarily. Now it is time for a 580EX, bigger bag, faster 50, new 70-200 IS.

If only I could have just a single expensive hobby, alas modding the Subie, and new camera equipment is expensive. The wife needs to get a job to let me support my habits with mine!

Cool. My previous hobby was cycling/racing. I thought it was expensive....until I got myself into photography 4 months ago. Tomorrow shopping for a 300L F4 IS lens with my tax refund at BH. :) Pickup an extra battery for my 30D. What else????

What do you shoot primarily?

I am still new into the hobby. Currently kind of into the bird photography. I read that the 300L is also good for macro shots, landscapes, and portraits. Once I am running out of interesting birds to shoot, I will find something else. I want to shoot some outdoor still life objects. Photoshelter seems to be interested in them. Hopefully, I can sell my some of my pictures soon.

Oh, we can tell you that. As per grande olde POTN tradition: a duck. :)

All it takes is patience... or 6 months no interest at B&H!

Same here, I'm hoping to start earning some extra cash selling photos, and assisting other photogs, learning to shoot weddings, while I keep shooting concerts and off-road/rally races.

Not too many ducks here, so I'm thinking another Subie shot!

Can't get enough photos of the wagon.

NICE, that's awesome, I love how you laid them out so wonderfully just so you could take a picture :D. Enjoy the setup, the 5D is phenomenal.

No duck though? Hmm....you might lost brownie points for that :p jk

thanks! I wanted to be sure and document the opening, in the event there was an issue with any of the products.

I was really hoping to keep my brownie points, but if i have to lose some, I suppose it's understandable, no duck and all.

EXCELLENT purchase. i am lusting after a 5D as we speak.

anyhow, i know what you mean about the expensive hobbies. i've given up on modding the evo, or cars in general; yes photography is expensive, but i can't sell my CE28's for close to what i bought them for when they were new.

Thanks, I'm liking the purchase so far.

Here are the inaugural shots:

Couldn't figure out what to shoot, just got to my Best Man's apt (his wedding is tomorrow) and thought I should make sure the 5D works before I try shooting his wedding. ;)

What? No duck??

For penance, you will have to shoot two ducks. :-)

(Yes, I know it's harsh, but take it like a man. :-D )

You opened it and then never took a shot with it for 24 hours. Then when you did it wasn't a duck!

I think you should go and stand in the corner with your head held in shame.
