.. that this is a photography forum and there is no sub-forum for film photography? Can I ask why not?

The title gives it away - Canon DIGITAL photography forums :-)

Film does get talked about in the various forums - I still shoot it myself.

The fact that this forum doesn't have one will only deter people from trying and maybe enjoying film.

perhaps.

i say that everyone should start off in film. these digital shooters who have no knowledge of the printing and developing process cant ever appreciate digital photography as much as the people who have started off in film and are now in digital! i hate paying for film, i hate paying for that light sensitive paper not to mention smelling like developer after ive made my prints! haha

Do a search for "film" in the 'Talk About Photography' section of this forum and I think you might be surprised how much film photography gets discussed here.

As a side note, do you think starting with digital would be better? So you can learn how all the exposure, apeture and shutter speeds affect images without wasting money on film, then when you think you know it all you can delve into the wonderful world of printing. Better that way round I think.

Back to the topic ;)

Film? What is this "Film" you speak of?

Only if there is a time warp involved, ie" Is there likely to be a film forum in the past?

It gets so little discussion here and of course less and oess as the years go on, I don;t see it happening. If demand grew who knows, but discussion can and does certainly take place in both "EOS" re the film 35mm SLRs and "Talk about Photography"
These forums are ample enough to handle the discussion of film without a new section dedicated to it.

Having a Film forum is right up there on my POTN wishlist alongside setting up a dedicated Nikon forum..!
