Went shooting in Honolulu China Town with a friend for school. Shot film for class, but brought my digital along too. These were my favorites. I really enjoy urban photography. My friend wasn't so comfortable shooting random people, but I think I'm getting better at it. My favorite reaction was from an old Chinese lady.

"What are you doing taking a picture of that wall?"
"It's for a photography class, I'm trying to find interesting textures."
"I have a digital camera and an iPhone. They take great pictures. I don't know why anyone would want to go back to those things..." I was holding my film SLR. Little did she realize the other camera around my neck WAS digital. Sure you can make phone calls on an iPhone, but I'm pretty sure my 20D takes better pictures...

I'm surprised that this series isn't getting more comments.

Although 1-3 are not my cup of tea, the others hold my interest. I especially like #4 because of the position of the people in the composition, the posture of woman and the fact that we find the woman at the end of a leading line of doorways that draws our eye to her.

In 5-7 it is refreshing to see faces and a context that lets me imagine a story about the shot.

Well done. Every photo has interest, texture, and a sense of environment.

I quite like the last one; look closely and there are some great details... the massage sign in the upper left... the lady's reflection in the window who is also checking out the scene.

Thanks everyone =]

Yeah, number 5 was definitely my favorite!

And the girl in number 4 and the reflection of number 7 is a friend of mine who was out shooting with me. She kept getting in my shots! Hahaha, but then I kind of liked the way she fit into some of them.

Haha, number 3 was actually shot from the hip with my 50mm. I was aiming for the guy in the front, but I missed and unknowingly got the other guy.
