quoted from the b&h site "For what it's worth, if you couple this lens to a Rebel XTi or EOS 40D you end up with the 35mm-equivalent of 1920/5.6,"

i believe its a huge misconception about the crop conversion, its more like you lose more of the frame opposed to getting a longer focal range...or am i wrong?

You have the same FOV (and thus the same image) of a 35mm camera with a 1920mm lens on it.

People will moan and whine and complain about the proper way to define it, but it's really simple: If you had a 35mm camera with a 1920mm lens on it right next to a APS camera with a 1200mm lens on it, and pointed it at the same thing, they would both return a picture that has the exact same field of view.

Everything else is just semantics.

Gee, the picture of the water tower is somehow appropriate, as the legs on it are about the same size as the legs on the tripod for the lens.

This is not entirely correct, with a Full Frame camera the field of view at 45.9 feet would be 1.4 x 0.9 feet, and with a 1.6x camera the field the field of view would be 0.9 x 0.6 feet.

Thus shooting down the entire football field 300 feet will give you a field of view of 6.9 x 4.6 feet when using a MKIII. This would give you an excellent picture of the player catching the ball for the winning touchdown.
