Does the G6 use ETTL-2 ?

Just wondering, I ordered one of these P-n-S's today and a lot has changed since my G1. Wondering how the flash is nowadays?

The PS G6 does not use ETTL-2. So far it's only the EOS 1D Mark II and the 20D.

ETTL-2 uses the distance information obtained from the USM on the compatible lenses. The G6 does not provide this information. Will the next model? Who knows. It will require some lense/focus changes before it works well in the G series.

I can tell you one thing, I love sticking a flash on the camera and get spot-on flash photos without a whole lot of thought. One of the things I disliked about the G3. I had to constantly play with the flash exposure settings.
