I need some help with setting up the custom settings on the 40D.
Custom settings on the program dial. How do you set them?

I'd like to have one set with these settings:
ISO 800
WB = Tungsten
shutter priority = 1/250th

And another setting:
ISO 1250
WB = 2800K
aperture priority = f/4

Can those be done? If yes, how?
And can you save the PictureStyle in there also?

Reading the manual a few times, I am confused.
Thanks.

JChin,
Yes you can see page 165 of your manual ;)

Its really pretty simple, set your camera to the settings you want it to have. Then go into the menu and select Camera User Setting then select Register then select either C1, C2 or C3 and thats it. Now when you select ex. C1 (assuming you saved it to C1) all the settings should be as when you saved it.

Every setting on your camera at the time of registering is saved. Picture Style, Custom Functions, everything.

I have always found the Canon manuals to be very dry and difficult to understand, but I found a great book on the 40D entitled, Canon EOS 40D Guide To SLR Photography (ISBN-13:978-1-59863-510-2) by David D Busch. It is in full color and shows every menu page exactly as it appears on the camera. It is written in easy to understand terms and explains, in depth, every menu item, each option and what that option means and how it affects the camera. After reading it once I understood my camera ten times as well as I did from reading the manual. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to really master the 40D.

That will be my purchase just before I get the 40D... I had heard the same before about the manual being difficult...
