I'm an amateur, but a friend of my recently asked me to take some shots of her baby (she's 7 months pregnant). Reading up on some advice I've found on the web, direct flash light for baby pictures is not ideal.

So, I'm looking into buying a 420EX and some kind of diffuser/bounce plate for it. Can anyone recommend some good ones?

Thanks

One that simply works - a 3x5 card bent 45-degrees and attached to the flash with a rubber band.

For much softer shadows, a Lumiquest Pocket Bounce. I love mine.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

I've got the Lumiquest Pocket Bounce and Mini Softbox I use with my 420 and they both work quite well. Lumiquest has other products for bouncing/diffusing. They're at http://www.lumiquest.com (external link). I bought mine at B&H but I'm sure they're available all over the place.

I should have made sure to ask for links to all the recommendations. I would greatly appreciate them!

Thanks again

I can do enough with the 3x5 card to satisfy me for just about anything. Play with the flash exposure compensation. I would add about 1.5-2 stops, depending on how high the ceiling is or how much you bend the card down.
