The "old" Phottix wireless (C3) that I have has 16 channels (4 on/off switches) for wireless. I do not see these switches on the "YouTube" Cleon.

Can you let us know if yours does?

The new Phottix Cleon has 16 channels.

Does anyone use the Aputure brand wireless remote from the LinkDelight ebay reseller? People always talk about not being able to change batteries in the Phottix, the Aputure remote has replaceable batteries. Is the new Phottix Klingon model the same as the Aputure one? The website says it is a newer and smaller model as of 10/07.

Glad to hear its a keeper.

So how were you planning to setup your camera for the hill climb? Would you set it up in advance and then take shots as you and the other climbers approach your camera?

Whats the range of the transmitter? The Cleon one claims 320 ft. which sounds far to me.

it's a 2.5 mile walk up a 10% grade to where i'm going so i'll travel light :D. i plan to take a monopod and lash it to a fence post overlooking the road. i'll take the 17-40L.

the spot i'm thinking should be high enough to shoot over spectators.

i'll be about 50 to 75 feet away standing at roadside with 1d3 + 70-200L.

i'm not sure of the "real" range but i did test mine and it has enough range for what i want to do :D.

Hi Ed!

Just ordered one. I've been looking at them for a while, but the inclusion of on camera release pushed me over the edge. I'll let you know how long it takes...

Just FYI, the batteries on the Phottix are replacable - even gives the battery types on the back of the box with instructions on how to change them.

Ed - that sounds like a good time, make sure to share the pics!

I too am interested if any used the Aputure one. It looks "nicer" with the slider on/off/bulb switch. Anyone?

I still can't find this cleon! All the pictures are the same, although the description does say C1 and/or C3....but the pictures are both the same!

As far as I can tell, Phottix has not posted any new pictures or details about it. I searched for an hour or so myself. See post #30 above though, if you order the C3 you'll get the CLEON. At least, for another day maybe.. I'd email them to verify and check.

Also, here's another thread here at POTN showing some user taken pictures:

They did not post their Cleon up yet! The only remote listed right now is the C3, but if you order that, they will send you the Cleon as a free upgrade for the next day or two. Email him directly to find out how much longer because when they do list the Cleon, it'll be twice as much.

Bottom line, if you want a cleon, order a C3 within the next day and he will send you a cleon instead. Hope this clears it up

That's the thing I did find them "description" wise. It does say C3 but I can't be sure that it's the latest version one due to the pictures which are misleading. I just don't to take a chance and that having to bite me.
