If I set the communication setting to "Print/PTP" it asks me to set the option to "PC Connection".

Simple workaround. When the 5D is connected to the Mac preview an image on the LCD. Open up EOS Utility. Click on the on Remote Shooting, the error (Camera is busy and cannot communicate. Clear if camera’s LCD monitor is displayed) will appear. Press a button on the 5D to turn off the preview image. Open up Remote Shooting and it should work (cos it does for me on both my macs). Actually takes a lot longer to explain than actually doing it!
