I must say great shots! I'm just starting to get in to the hole motorcross scene! I wanted to act though, what were you settings on this?

Great shots, I really like the one where the kid flipped out of the hole.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it.

As for the settings, I'm sure it was the usual for me. Aperture priority-wide open, ISO 100, and I suppose that's about it. I think I need to try out a couple different AF settings next time, see if I can increase my keepers.

Curious as to why you'd shoot aperture priority and not shutter priority. Any reason, or is that just the way you're used to doing it?

I should clarify that I like the images, so I'm not getting at you from any angle. :)

Thanks

Cliff

No worries Cliff, I appreciate your reply.

I usually shoot wide open unless I'm going for the panning effect, where I will use shutter priority. Probably 90% of my MX shots are taken wide open.

Mostly these are the reasons:

1. Background blur. Distracting objects and people are found all over the track.

2. Stopping the action. I have yet to come across a situation where it's so bright outside, that the shutter speed is so high the wheels are frozen.

3. I didn't pay all that money for the 300/2.8 only to use it at f/22. ;)

4. Right now I like nice tight MX shots, as I start stepping back a little bit and shoot other aspects of the race, I will definitely stop down some.

Happy shooting!

II really like the 5th picture rider nr 952, the rider and bike are sharp the background is so off it seems like the rider is floating in the shot
