Just got my hands on a 17-40L f/4 and got the opportunity to test it out at my first model shoot! A couple of my friends agreed to do some modeling for me, and I brought along another photog friend. All photos shot using a 20D, 17-40mmL or 50mm f/1.4, 430EX, natural light and a reflector. Just learning how to use a reflector, as I have never used one before. This was all one big learning experience, for example I learned to tell models you are going an hour earlier than you are actually planning on...

Anyway, here are some of the highlights of the shoot. Tell me what you think! Comments and Criticism always appreciated.

Wow I love the second one. Number five and seven are really cool also.

The others one are great also, I just really like those three. Great job. Looks like you are doing pretty good with the reflector.

Can you share the light setup on the last? Did you use an off camera flash ?
Maybe if possible you can share the light setup on this one too:

Whas it only the reflector or the flash was used?

Thanks

Pretty nice set, and looks like it was a good experience for you. I'd say though that the angle in the first one isn't appealing to me anyway...just makes them look small.

Both of those were reflector and natural lighting only.

I don't have any off camera lighting yet =[Thanks for all the positive feedback!

#2, #6 and #7 are my favorites. Have you considered cloning out the cars in the background of #6?

I really like #4 and #5. They seem to stick out to me. The rest are great in their own ways. Great job on these.

#2 and 7 for me, #4 if it was lightened up a bit more, seems like a lot of shadows in that one, her face gets lost. But I like the pose and how the light falls.
