Hi, I'm new here so I'm sorry if such theme had allready been posted before :)
I am planing to buy a digital camera, but I really have no idea which one should I. I would like to make not only personal photos, but also some artristic (professional maybe) ones too (well, the world "professional" in this case is very relative, in the matter of fact that I'm just GOING to buy a camera :D ), but I hope you understand what I mean. I've read some topics and noticed that canon G5 and G5 is mentioned quite often, maybe one of them is a good choise for me?

I'll be grateful for any advices :)

Ok, I'm not the world's most experienced authority on this    ,

but I will give it a try.

You have started in the right direction, but you do need to give more thought as to what you might want to do. Right now I would say that cost is your biggest worry.

You want to take pictures, but you really have no experience in it, (been there, working out of it  ).

You will have to make up your mind what it is you want to do.

Do you want a Point and Shoot (P&S) camera that has manual controls but is not really all that expensive (really a digital camera under $700 or $800 US is not considered an "expensive" camera. just to those of us who save forever to buy it! )

You might want to look at the "A" or "S" series of cameras for one that is small, takes reasonable pictures and is less expensive.

The "G" series are very nice cameras and if you look in the Canon G-series forum you will find advice and some very amazing pictures that this camera has captured.

Pay attention to what equipment has been used to create the photographs that you see that you like. This can guide you to equipment that you might want for similar purchases.

If your budget is up to it by all means jump in and buy the Rebel. It is a very good choice for a camera to learn on. It comes with a kit lens that will serve you well until you feel confident that you need other lenses to expand your ability to take photographs. This will cost you in the range of $800 to $900 USD, depending on where you buy and whether you get the kit lens or not (get it).

Keep looking in this and other forums, try the search features for answers to questions as you will find many of us had the same questions and there are a multitude of answeres around.

Hopefully this will give you more ideas and help you on your way to make a decision.
