E.G. TV said todays US rate was 81.55, so typically you'd get stung with a rate of 72.76
You'd likely still get better than Glam's prices, but not by much.

Exactly! I import lots of things and the exchange rate is NEVER the same. The banks do add their conversion fee on top too which adds up.

Remember, the ones on trademe are from asia in just about every case = no local warranty, whereas if you buy the US model from BH you have a full international warranty, something I personally would value on an $8k item.

I have verified this with Canon, all US made lenses carry the full international warranty.

I buy my bodies locally at cost price as bodies don't have international warranties and I like the peace of mind on a local warranty for a body, plus the cost is close to import price, but all lenses are bought from b&h unless its a used bargain off tardme like my 70 - 200 2.8 IS for $1900

Oh for the record all my chatter re php,mysql and phpbb3 is photography related .....well in as much I have a greater understanding of the work the mods and admin have to do to keep this site running 24/7
I also under stand the different rolls. The Servers they use must be hudge esp for the DB's and storage.

HN - not allowed to sell anything above the 5d - they are also not allowed to sell anything bigger than f2.8 and 300mm to..

the number has changed from 1.3.1 to 1.4 -
