congrats, it looks like a pro has taken those ;)

Hehe - thanks Mark ;) Who know's in a couple years, eh.
Just silently do work, with interest in my services quietly mounting

They do look a million times better (ok, maybe slight exaggeration), on the glossy brochure

Does any1 no where the cheapest place to get a 500f4 would be

Fast eddie? It comes witha free bag of Crack! :)

LOL sorry :) As others have said bhphoto would be best

lance v wrote in post #5112153 (external link)
mmm its about $6800 from B&H. does any1 have a clue what sort of duty ud have to pay on that?

dno about splashing out just yet:p

12.5% gst ont he total amount, including the shipping. plus a $20ish "admin" fee from UPS.

joeseph wrote in post #5112563 (external link)
Close, it's 12.5% of the total price-plus-shipping-charges-plus-any-handling worked out at an exchange rate that is so far out that someone, somewhere has to be taking backhanders.
E.G. TV said todays US rate was 81.55, so typically you'd get stung with a rate of 72.76
You'd likely still get better than Glam's prices, but not by much.

Exactly! I import lots of things and the exchange rate is NEVER the same. The banks do add their conversion fee on top too which adds up.

lance v wrote in post #5112585 (external link)
So so far the trade me 1 is wining this race haha
New question, would any1 here ever buy a lens for $8k from trade me

Remember, the ones on trademe are from asia in just about every case = no local warranty, whereas if you buy the US model from BH you have a full international warranty, something I personally would value on an $8k item.

I have verified this with Canon, all US made lenses carry the full international warranty.

Hope this helps brother :)

That's the plan :)
Thanks, Tony.
It was easy being that I am on the payroll, but these photos had to go via Auz and Christchurch Head Office.

Ok - no more brick geek talk from me, now, hehe.

Hey man that sounds cool love too... be at yours for say 6:30 - and you will have the coffee on..

;)

Haha, considering I finish work at 11pm, will be picking up nursy, going shopping and home about 1am, I don't think I will be getting up before 9!

Nzshrimper wrote in post #5112814 (external link)
once i get sorted i will be ordering a 1dmk3 - 400 2.8L IS - 24-70 2.8L - 14mm mk2 - 100mm macro all from B&H

:D

I buy my bodies locally at cost price :D as bodies don't have international warranties and I like the peace of mind on a local warranty for a body, plus the cost is close to import price, but all lenses are bought from b&h unless its a used bargain off tardme like my 70 - 200 2.8 IS for $1900 :)

Clicky for bigger.

Quality was lost in scanning. But I'm still a wee bit chuffed.
Hundreds of those have gone out to customers :)

(damn - I didn't ask for royalties)

Looking good. Those would definitley be the best brick photos I have seen all day!

I have gone off international and in fact internet sales. Quite willing to pay more for good and simple service. For example the 24-70 I bought from the camera shop. they have offered to get it calibrated free of charge. Couldn't do that with an internet shop.

Hmm, I simply can't bring myself to pay retail :)

Current job is great in the fact that I get cost price from MANY retail outlets, including the local pro camera shop :)

Can see what I can do, but it all gets recorded and we are strictly not allowed to buy for anyone outside our immediate families. Audits have been known to be done :|

Mate at HN is our best chance there. Depends, the last few things I have bought from PnV they havn't taken my staff code :)
