Hey again guys. Well ... I have figured out that the softness of my previous flower shot is definitely due to a crappy cheap ass lens. Played around with a 180MM l series macro today and all the shots are sharp ass. Although the 180 is a bit beyond my budget the 100 F2.8 is now definitely on my shopping list within a week or 2. Where is a good place to buy it? The horror stories I have heard about local dealers doesn't exactly make me want to buy it locally.

I haven't tried that yet.
Do you only use the focus button then to pre focus.
What if you forget?
I have a model shoot tonight. Maybe I'll try it. I'm just so used to 1/2 press.. recompose that I am scared I will mess things up.

Only thing the focus button will do is lock the exposure, and take the picture. All focusing is handled by the * button.

Probably more useful if you use AI Servo a lot(90% of the time for me), but I use for any mode I'm in.

I use the * quite often for exposure lock.
I also let other people take pictures with my camera quite often. This would mess that up.

Does screw with people a bit if you forget to change it for them

Guess the benefit is it completely seperates exposure and focus. I like it when you get the focus you're after, release the button and then the focus is effectively locked at that point. You can then do whatever you want and the focus won't change.
When using in AI Servo it basically becomes one shot and ai servo in one, just release the button to lock focus.
