'not very portable' would be another thing big studio lights are........

Your definition of portable is slightly different to everyone elses though. If it doesn't fit in a tobacco tin it's not going! :p

somethingsimple wrote in post #5253103 (external link)
i was watching short clip of someone working in a studio, and every time he took a shot, all the lamps brightened, then went really dim for a couple seconds after

what is that?

As Peter said it's a visual indication of when the lamps have recharged. Bigger lamps (or more expensive) has their own charge pack to aid faster recycling, so you may see 1000W or 2000W heads recycling in just a couple of seconds, whereas if they were all integral to the head it'd take longer. Personally the beep system can get confusing when you've got several lights on a shot, and they all start twittering away.

it's what happens after a big night on the juices...... you of all people should know that Kirst.......

Hah, watch it beaker! - you make me sound like a proverbial Pi$$ head. I don't crash. I get more steam rather than running out of it
I don't even get hangovers, I'm one of those evil people

Noted for our Auckland trip shortly... ;)

I must be an angel then. Man I have almost given up alcohol as I can get such wicked hangovers. If my wife and I ever go to a party I volunteer to drive, as that gives me a reason not to drink too much & I can enjoy the next day.

Anyway night all.

If it's any consolation Peter I can get pretty fragile if I've drunk the right petrol... ;)

haha - an sbs box at one of the sites we look after has fallen over - something I warned them of at least a month ago.

but the head in the sand approach was taken and there break fix company techs helped dig the holes and now whamo - its all gone south.....

right i am off for the weekend and dam my phone has switched off....

Ha! I'd love to do that :D

sothen wrote in post #5255602 (external link)
I've never had a hangover either then...... just a cracking headache, spins, shakes, dry mouth and the occasional chunder... but that was all due to the dodgey kebabs I'm damn sure of it!!

At least we know when you come down for a session we'll both feel the pain! ;)

I am also now surfing wirelessly, thanks to Joeseph last night. Once I'd got a new password set by Orcon and swapped all the info over to the new rotuer all went well, as the techy bits were already posted up by Joeseph/Duncan and I just swapped them over. Quite a relief. :)

I am also experimenting with a posh cheese on toast, have fresh basil and a dash of Worcester sauce, then cheese with some black olvies sliced up on top. Works quite well! ;)

Cheers, Dave.

What always cracks me up is that any opsys will be as stable as the knowledge and understanding of the operator.

I dont have "crashes" maybe cause I know what the hell im doing and realise the limiatations of the system/hardware/and apps.

I've not had crashes for some time. Not with XP or now a fragile Vista install. Last BSOD was with some rank Dick Smith piece of sh1tware I installed (Corners cut, lessoned learned).

Box of fluffies, I got to nick off with the keys to a black one of these (external link) today. Mmmmm. Oh, and I nicked off with the car, too.
Couldn't fool the owner into thinking the nearest gassy for filling it up was Mangawhai (where I was headed after filling it... )
297kw stock.. 6litlre.. it'd only cost a small fortune to get there.
