Don't get too excited, it's only a '95 Fairmont ;)
Love it on the open road though, smooth, powerful and comfy. Went to Kaikoura last weekend, felt like a trip to the shops.
A BFII XR6 ( or 8 ) is on my list. Few years away but I'll do it.
That milage of yours is awesome. Kaikoura and back and a bit of running around for the week urban drained mine - only about 550km (with about 80 left). Mind you, I had a fair bit of hill work and stopping and starting.
Cheers, Shane.

fairmont - isnt that a V8? or was that the fairlane? (or is V8 only the XR8 series? - i forget LOL - obviously)

mines a 93 falcon LOL... its done over 391,567kms... i say 'over' because 2 weeks ago my odometer stopped clocking... so now i have to get that fixed, cos im on my way to 500,000 and beyond :D (original engine, never been cracked open)

Can I get people's opinion on something? The insurance company state they won't process claims without photographic evidence, which I obviously have. Now in order to send the 130-odd relevant photos via email they've got to be shrunk quite some amount. So I was debating uploading the files onto something like Photobucket or Flickr on a new account so I can provide them with a link to the photos full size so they can view them and any areas they need to check up close, and also annotate each photo, as obviously some photos will need explaining ("this is bla and it goes here and look it's broken because of this see...").

Does this make sense to people or is it complete overkill?

Cheers, Dave.

dave i think do whatever needs to be done to prove your case. after all, no one ever got refused insurance payouts for having TOO MUCH evidence or providing TOO MANY details. this payout is worth what sounds like many thousands of dollars to you two - so do it properly and then you wont be left wishing you'd made more effort later

another suggestion is PDF format - that way ppl can zoom into your images to see more detail and you can still put in your notes and info for each one - but they can be optimised for web viewing - and you can just dump the pdf on your server for them to DL if its too big to email - and the entire document can be easily printed for their records

Like the flickr idea with the 'notes'. Would they accept a CD of high res photos?

or get the lazy arse gits of their fat arses and inspect the damage with those two things in their heads.

Good idea the PDF's though I'll admit optimising them and the like isn't my strong point.

The CD would have to go back to the UK, and IMO that's too much of an excuse for them to have never recieved it. I'm fully expecting them at some point to send someone round to verify stuff, the damage to the monitor and to the speakers/stereo for instance can't really be photographed, just shown in person.

Cheers, Dave.

Good point, well made. The CAB advised me once to send things registered post. That way they cannot deny receiving it but...

When I worked in a Cardiff hospital my 205GTi was broken into. Under the contract with the hospital, the security company were responsible for repair. So I claimed. The head office, some 300 miles away, refused saying their guards did there job and that is proved by the fact that the car wasn't stolen. What a load of bollox. What has this got to do with your situation. Absolutely nothing but I've had a few beers and I'm feel like story telling.
