I've picked holidays as this weeks challenge, partly as I'm away at the moment and secondly it gives everyone the chance to show off some of there holiday snaps. Whether it be the family enjoying themselves on the beach, or a picture of a temple/church/building which gave you the wow factor etc or even of an event or sport you travelled away to compete in or view, it's pretty much an open catergory and I look forward to seeing your images and you being part of POTN's 40th Speed Challenge!

Maximum file size is not to exceed 200k, to be in line with other contests on this site. Also, please keep the longest side of your shot at 800 pixels so all photos have an equal chance.

This comp is all about having a bit of fun, and I look forward to seeing everyones interpretation of the subject, and good luck.

Posting will end at 12:00am GMT (MIDNIGHT), Monday, February 18, 2008.

Winners will be announced as soon as possible after the contest has closed.

Photo Submissions:
1. Camera -- Any Canon DSLR Camera
2. Time -- any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size -- Photo must be EXACTLY 800 pixels maximum on the longest side and no more than 200K in size. Please see here for Image posting rules. https://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=1945104.

5. Posting --* ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.* Photo Name in the message subject line.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting -- No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:

Thanks for all of your photos and it was really hard to pick the top three in this one, and after a lot of thought and nail biting as I could not seperate the top two, here is my top three

1st Lunajen, Christmas eve night and Cocoa....
This is just a wonderful shot, it has everything within the shot to capture the moment and you can also see the laughter about to explode on everyones faces in the room, and what a picture that would have made.......... Very well done and I'm sure this picture will bring back the moment for many years to come

2nd Beau Hudspeth July, 4th, 2005
This is an amazing shot, and the quality of the capture of the explosions is second to none, and this is one of the best firework photos I have seen. Having tried on numerous occasions to get that "one great" shot I know how hard it is, and I'm sure all of us would like to know how you took this photo? Congratulations

3rd steve535 christmas fire
This picture brings back so many memories of my childhood when we always had an open fire at Christmas and the amount of times this happened and the chaos that ensued after trying to get rid of the smoke so the room didn't end up black with soot :) Great capture as I'm sure most of us would be thinking more about sorting out the problem than taking a picture of it..........

Congratulations to everyone else, I really liked all of your pictures, and sorry if you didn't get in the top three this time, but keep trying! :)

Over to you Jen for round #41

Wow - I am getting pretty tired of people entering contests who obviously have no desire/intent on hosting the next contest. If you are not going to have time when the current contest ends, then don't enter. The speed challenges in the G forum and the small camera forum are pretty consistent. This is disappointing!

I think that if the winner does not start a new contest within 48 hours of winning, the 2nd place winner should do the next contest. Then the 3rd... After that, the person who ran the contest in question should just start another one.

Stefan
