I have just purchased my G1 and am using a card reader to transfer images. Is possible to still retain the image information this way, if so how is it accessed and do you have to be shooting in Raw.

Thanks
Phil

If by image data you mean the shutter speed, aperture, etc, those values and many more are stored in JPEG files taken on the G1. The data follows a standard called EXIF (hmm, forget what it stands for) and you can view it using a tool like Exif.exe, excellent Freeware available from:

It even allows you to view the special codes that are specific to Canon cameras.

Just have to tell you about the new version 0.5 of BreezeBrowser. It allows you to export all the EXIF information from a directory of RAW images (ie it's a batch process, or individual if needed) to a delimited text file--ideal for importing to database or spreadsheet programs! Damn, this is the best RAW browser on the planet. I LOVE it (if I wasn't married, I'd marry it!)

cheers,
