I have just purchased my G1 and am using a card reader to transfer images. Is possible to still retain the image information this way, if so how is it accessed and do you have to be shooting in Raw.

The data follows a standard called EXIF (hmm, forget what it stands for) and you can view it using a tool like Exif.exe, excellent Freeware available from:
