I went and thought about which one i wanted all weekend between the canon 28-105 and the tamron 24 or 28 (i can't remember)-75. I though i'd go with the tamron well i get there and its DISCONTINUED after the stupid lady said she had it in stock saturday:rolleyes:. So i told her i just wantedto go with the canon which saturday she told me she'd have to order it and it would be in the in 2-3 days. Well today its BACKORDERED!!! Im so irritated bc i really wanted to start using it but oh well and she told me it could take a freaking Month. I just hope i made the right decision on the lens for waiting for it. I should have just got the 50mm instead but i plan on getting that next.
So hopefully this canon is worth the wait.

Hland,
Dealing with that company I would cancel my order ASAP. I hope you were getting the Canon 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 II USM as there is a cheaper and not as good Canon 28-105 f/4-5.6 USM.

The Canon 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 II USM is a great lens for its low cost, small and light weight. :)

If you can cancel your order, you can order one from B&H that has them in stock for $229 (external link)

Enjoy your new lens, whenever you get it ;)

Doesn't sound like a very good company to deal with... hope it works out for you. Most of us around here buy from B&H, Adorama or other well known and reputable dealers.

Ive got all my camera lens everything from Ritz, but since they closed at the mall i had to go to Wolf which i think is the same Place but just diff names. I've never had a problem with them thats why i keep going back.
JOHN_B yes it was the Canon 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 II USM .

Well, they won't rip you off, but you're paying a premium.

I've seen some nice sample images from the Tamron lens. The pictures are really sharp with good color. The Canon lens also has good color but may not be quite as sharp as the Tamron. One thing in the Canon's favor is the USM focus motor. Focus is fast, silent, and accurate. USM increases lens performance so much that the Canon will be much more enjoyable to use than the Tamron would.

Here are a couple of my favorites from the 28-105. I've got more in my Canon 28-105 sample gallery (external link).

This is quite true. We have a shi*load of Wolf/Ritz in the Dallas area and to say they're expensive is an understatement. 99% of the time, its B&H for me.

OP: If you're a bit squeamish about buying on-line, don't be (as long as you deal with reputable dealers like B&H, Adorama, etc). They have excellent customer service, and are usually never out-of-stock (except during special times such as holidays, etc). Also, if you do decide to order something on-line, be mindful of the following link:

If there's ever a doubt, or the price seems too good to be true, go to this link and do some investigating. Or just ask here.

why not get the 28-135 IS lens?

Because the 28-135 is almost twice the cost! Yes, it has a little better range, a little better IQ (probably not noticeable) and IS, but I would expect this from a lens that cost twice as much.

You can't beat the 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 for the money. Its built well, has good IQ "IMHO" and doesn't break the bank. I have a several low cost lenses (50mm f/1.8 | 75-300mm f/4-5.6 | 18-55mm kit lens | and the 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 USM).

If your on a budget and looking for a great lens that is much better than the kit lens, you won't be dissapointed with the 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 USM!
