slimmer G6

That's what I was after as well. I ended up with an S70. Yeah, I wish it had more lens, but I understand the physics of the situation. What I really wish it had is a hot shoe.

Even so, I believe the S70 is the optimal feature vs. portability compromise for me.

I wouldn't put any camera in my pants pocket. All you'd have to do is bang into a table or something, and you know you will if your camera is in the pocket, and you can bet the camera will get damaged. What's wrong with a small carrying case just big enough to carry the camera and CF card, with a wide strap you can wear over your shoulder. I wear mine over my head on the opposite shoulder so it can't slide off. All I have to do is open the flap, pull out the camera and shoot.

An unprotected G in your pocket is certainly inviting damage, but I'm not happy with a shoulder bag either. My bag is just large enough for the camera, but it seems like a constant annoyance--it tends to rest right on my hip, which is in the way of my swinging arms when I walk. I can try to bias it to the front or back, but it always slides back, and even before then, it bounces around, distracting me from what I really want to be doing. Ironically, I think because it is so small, the case doesn't rest against my body, it just rolls around. something wider than it is thick would probably stay put more easilly.

Have you considered either a small satchel or a fanny pack?

Check http://www.holsterguy.com/ (external link) for some alternatives, including shoulder holsters, and belt-loop holsters (the ones for larger radios may fit the G).
There's also the bat utility belt route:

But maybe not a good option for the shy :)

Well it fits fine with the lens cap on if you aren't one of those people who wear butt tight jeans. In other news I returned mine so it's not a problem either way anymore. :D

I was aware, yes--and while composing the message I'd thought of excusing myself for the term, but it got lost in process. However, I'd also hope folks would exercise some tolerance for regional slang terms that are in mundane usage in other portions of the world, especially in context. For example, if a British poster were to comment that he was getting a good screw at his new job, and was going to get pissed in celebration of the new salary, I hope I'd take the contextual clues into account and not take offense at either of those terms. :)

If you're in the UK, I certainly hope you hide it!!! ;) Nothing personal, you understand, but good fences make good neighbors and all that. :)

Monte Python said fanny. Oh, the guy who started this took his camera back. No need to continue the bag discussion.

I'm not in the UK I'm on Camera Forum on the internet (No walls or fences) and fanny pack the word is a topic about equipment not an
insult. I not hiding my fanny, fannypack or my talk about it anywhere.

Here in the US we say fanny to be discreet, rather than say ass or dumper.
