OK, ive been hanging around here for a few months and have finally been persuaded to move to RAW however the one thing i find most frustrating is the ability to view a preview image before i take it into Elements 4 to convert the raw file to PSD / JPG etc. is there a free viewer you could recomend , where you can view view a folder of images whilst they are still in CRW format. hope some one comes back as i have just taken some 300 -400 images over the last week and i need to start processing them :D

Thanks for your anticipated help / advice

Andy

Yeah, if you're using Windows then Microsoft has a RAW thumbnail viewer.

Get it here: http://www.microsoft.com …66FD4A3286&displaylang=en (external link)

Also DPP which should have come with camera (which is great for editing, too, btw. Much better than Elements ACR, IMO)

Be sure to upgrade to newest DPP after you install the version from disk.

There's a post somewhere here on the forums showing how to get it... I just can't find it right now in my brief search.

There are alot that can be found by a simple google.

The microsoft one has already been mentioned here. Fastone (external link) makes one as does Arcsoft (external link). There are other ones that are not free but are good, I use Breezebrowser Pro (external link) as it does a number of other functions that makes the software worthwhile to me.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Another vote for Faststone. Great little program.

You may not be able to install the DPP you download if you don't already have some Canon software on your computer.

If you need a copy of the original Canon 300D utilities disk I can burn you one...

Probably. I don't think there's anything in the early Rebel software that can't be handled by later versions.
