just wondering on your thoughts on getting a print done on canvas.
the photo is a macro of a very colorful leaf, very abstract.

have any of you done a canvas print?
were you happy with it, eg:colors, overall look

i don't really care for image sharpness as it is an abstract of a leaf, all you see is colorful stripes.

thanks

I've seen canvas prints done and they've been done well. It's better if the subject suits the medium used, however - desturated shots without lots of fine detail seems to suit well.

If you have Photoshop or similar, try adding a Canvas texture to the shot and see how it looks. While not perfect, it'll give a decent indication of how it might look as a print.

Canvas prints are awesome - go for it. It's really nice when they get printed so the edges wrap over the edges of the canvas.

You got me drooling now over getting some more of my own done...

thanks for the input, I can't wait to get them done. The colours in the photo are bright, will they still look bright and saturated when printed.

I just had a large panorama done, and it turned out awesome. It is a night-time panorama of the San Francisco skyine and the colors are muted, as someone else mentioned. I also chose matte canvas.

I did get 4 test prints on varying papers/canvases for test purposes, and ended up choosing the matte canvas.

It seems to me that what looks good on canvas would be limited, but what works works great.

Here is the photo I'll be printing.
It will be in square format, and about 1.5 - 2 ft wide

Do you think this type of photo is appropriate for canvas, or would it be better suited for a fine print and framed.
the reason i want canvas, is becasue it will hang in a dining area and so i want it to look like a painting.
comments appreciated.
thanks
