Try it again. And try it with a different lens. Try gently cleaning the cam/lens contacts.
If all else fails, try hitting the bottom of the cam on a table. What do you have to lose at this point? ;)

im right there with you.

you can find some used bodies for a pretty good price as well if you cant find yourself getting a brand new body.

sorry to hear about it.

OK, it can be fixed. :D

But you can probably replace it for less money, or upgrade for a bit more. Looks like 300Ds are going for around $300 these days. A bit less, I suppose, for body only.

Browse the for-sale forum on POTN, peolle are always selling off good gear as they upgrade. safer than ebay but still take care.

I think looking for a used XT or XTi is the way to go - the 300D is getting a bit geriatric IMO...

Good luck, anyway!

So it would be better to just upgrade instead of getting it fixed yeah i paid $350 for mine so they are going pretty cheap and that was last yr. Now i just have to decide whats best wtih my budget i guess.

Have you checked to make sure the shutter speed isn't set to expose for several seconds? That would make it act/sound as you describe.
