also...edits made to the raw file are non-destructive and stored in a seperate file. like a negative. also, when you transfer that raw file to photoshop you are then working on the TIFF conversion, which is also an uncompressed format. if possible avoid editing jpg files.

Thank you both for the clarification.

I shot this one last week. I usually shoot in RAW, but this time I tried jpg. I had excellent results in jpg, better results than any other camera I've ever owned. NO PP AT ALL was needed on any of my images. This is actually a first for me. I'm a big fan of sharp images- not even any sharpness had to be applied.

Very nice.

What were the in-camera JPEG settings?

24-105L + 1D owners. Any complaints?

I'm seriously lacking in good quality glass for the Dino and looking at the 24-105 for its versatility and build...oh okay - and looks :p

But does the 1.3 CCD sensor create any issues compared to 1.6 CMOS? Vignetting/barrel dist' etc. This is new territory for me so pardon the newb q's

None at all. I like the 24-105 on my 1D just fine.

Great thanks Dan. Hard to find samples/post that don't include
"5D" or "Full frame".

Cool - thanks Austin and love the pic Shawn! Colours and lighting are great!

I've been a big fan of the 28-70L for a long time but trying to get your hands on one in NZ is like trying to get a 1D under a thousand bucks!

My dilemma is my Tamron 28-75/2.8 and EF 28-105 II (both great copies) are pretty much the only standard zooms I use on the 1D.

I like the range of the 105mm for walkaround, but is the 24 wide enough for say - group shots (8 max)? I know we're only talking like 4mil - but I wouldn't know. Never owned a 24mm + 1.3 crop :)

I've tried to simulate 24mm with the 30D+17-55 @ 19.5mm but - naaa...doesn't look right. I could have the math wrong mind you

No chance of a 24mm on 1.3 - anyone? Cheers
