Here's a review of the 1D (external link) [Classic] There is no 1D Classic or MkI, it's just the 1D. Technically.

They are fine, I have thought of selling mine several times, then when I pick it up, I shudder to think what I almost did.

I got my 70-200/4 Non-IS about 3 weeks ago. HAHA, Did I try it on the 40D first? No, it went on the 1D and stayed there about three days before I remembered to even try it on the 40D. :)

I was able to crop 100% and no need for Neat Image or any sharpening.

I'll be getting my 1D in the mail sometime soon, I'm very excited.

I was wondering about the purple corners, would you be able to crop them out? Or does it become a large portion of the image as your exposure increases?

Also, why can't you use, for example, Tamron's Di II lenses with a 1D? You're not able to use them on a full-frame camera, yes, but the 1d has a 1.3 crop. I don't see how a lens such as a 55-200mm lens can't be used. Is the mount different or something?

Ive never seen a Tamron 28-75 Xr Di II. Mine was Tamron 28-75 Xr Di LD, and would work fine on the 1D. It my impression that the lens with II identified made for 1.6 crop, like the 17-50 DI-II Tamron.

It was my understanding that the lens is too close to the sensor for 1.3 crop and full sensor and the mirror could strike the lens as a result.
