And G, thats sweet. Id like to use my 430ex outside..I dont dont really get use to using flash for fill. hmmm

One of the biggest pluses to this camera is the 1/500 flash synch,,, you should definitely experiment with flash outdoors,,, makes a huge difference. It's the difference between using forward and bounce flash indoors.

Do you like it better than the 40d?

certainly! 10mp to 4mp was an issue for me, but the 1D proved me wrong when I saw the shots produced by this beast, it's lovely!

beautiful!

I'm just about to post a pic to show low light.

I don't know what people are complaining about. And I find the WB settings great. So much better than my XTI!

battery just died so can't play any more tonight. :(

taken under a plant light bulb, SS 1/5, f7, ISO1000 (the camera was propped on my desk) WB was flueroscent.

I'm going to experiment and try the same settings with my XTI and see what happens.

I feel that as long as the camera is steadied, as all cameras should be with slow SS, this is a GREAT indoor camera!

I should have sharpened for web. ( I reposted it sharpened just a bit)

OM goodness, the xti does feel like a toy! After fiddling with the beast all day this thing is so small and light!

I'll upload those in a sec, it actually did pretty good, but the fluorescent WB wasn't too good. I can see the difference in the 1.6 and 1.3 tho with the lens. It's closer than the 1D. I had to crop the 1D pic a little to get almost the same view.

here's the XTI. Fluerescent setting a bit too orange for me. 2nd picture is AWB, still too orange. The ISO was a little lower at 800 since I don't have a 1000 setting. I think it's pretty good in that area. It's just the 1D does better with colors, more true to life.

that is funny!

I have been around professionals and they don't seem too forthcoming or friendly about equipment.

I was at my nephews wedding several years ago and I had my friends Canon Rebel film SLR. The photographer had two cameras she was shooting with and even tho I was only a few feet from her she never said a word. It if would have been the other way around I would have at least acknowledged her standing there!

Funny thing is, my nephew liked a lot of my pictures better! LOL!

oh yeah, I'm really liking the 1.3 crop too. Will make using my 50mm a little bit easier.

Some good 1D deals on the San Francisco Craigslist. A low use with dual charger, three batteries, etc. for $550 and a pair of high mileage bodies with boxes and chargers for $350 and $400 each or $700 for the pair. Here is the link to the last one. Search for the other: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pho/1572144617.html (external link)

I ditched my 50mm when I was using the 40D, but using it on the Canon 1D now makes me regret that I sold it. The bokeh on a 1.3crop is better than on a 1.6, and the shorter range is nice to have
