Yes center focus ,A1 servo and in machine gun mode,ISO up to 400 I think.Last one is cropped a bit heavy and looks a bit over sharpened now I look at it .I shot over 700 pics over the two days so many good ones it is difficult to know which ones to post here.Battery lasted over 360 shots on the first day and I only changed it over to save carrying a fresh one for day two.

I ditched my 50mm when I was using the 40D, but using it on the Canon 1D now makes me regret that I sold it. The bokeh on a 1.3crop is better than on a 1.6, and the shorter range is nice to have

Was there PP done on this? How did you do this cloudy/too much light effect? I like it!

I did some PP on the photo but only on the colors, the effect that you mentioned was the sunlight itself :D

when you shoot RAW, do you have to sharpen it for it to look good?

when my files are small, they look really sharp, but then when enlarged to work on them they look out of focus. I sharpen them and then they look great.

is this because it's a small file and when enlarged on my large computer screen they look fuzzy? Or is my focus off? I need to know so I can work on that if my focus is off. If they were OOF, would they sharpen up so nicely?

I guess I need to shoot more jpeg and see if there is a difference.

I usually sharpen my tifs to the "3" setting in DPP, then work from there. I have the same experience with no sharpening as you are describing; that's just the way these cameras work I guess.

FWIW, my old XSI acted the same way when working with raw files.

This one is ISO 3200 pushed 1/3 stop, heavily cropped, with a lot of work done in DPP and NN. I didn't expect to get anything useful out of it; just an example of a low serial number 1D being pushed to its limits.

good to know I'm not doing anything wrong! And I'm happy the AF works so well. Im amazed at the sharpness I'm getting. As long as I have the right exposure I"m getting great shots with little work! yay!

My XTI isn't quite so bad. It's not as fuzzy in RAW, tho certainly needs sharpening.

I could be wrong, but isn't 3200 just 1600 pushed one stop already? I'm pretty sure it is....
