The 28-135 is an ok lens. It's a great step up from 18-55s and stuff, and it's probably the best non-expensive variable aperture zoom, but a 1D deserves more IMHO.

My walk around zoom is a Sigma 24-70 EX 2.8 Macro, and I love it. It's a tiny bit soft at 70mm and 2.8, but it's sharp other than that. Also 24 is plenty wide on a 1.3, I don't think 28 will be that much different.

Here is light rules comparison between these two lenses. How convenient!

How did you do this check, and please better define neon spots.

set aperture to 22, ss to 5, ISO was 1600 I think, due to low light, set focus to manual and focused to infinity.

showed the dust and several tiny pricks of different colored lights.

I did more searching and came up with hot pixels due to long exposure and high ISO.

don't show up at faster SS.

is this correct?

Oh yeah. The 1D classic gets purple corners past 5 seconds, and is sometimes worse at higher apertures. It's because you've got dual processors so close to the sensor. Also, if you are seeing red and blue dots, those are hot pixels, and they are usually easy to clean up with noise reduction. They are normal on not-new bodies, and really shouldonly show up at 100%.

Do your dust test shots into a bright blue sky. ISO 100, f22, set focus as close as possible, and over expose by one whole stop. If it doesn't show up there, it never will.

BTW, click to see my new fiancee. Her name is Wiola (She is Polish, and it's pronouced like viola, the instrument) and that is me in the reflection. It was a good idea, but to have enough glare to make me visible, there was gonna be glare on her. Oh well, it was just an idea.

Lovely girls.

Thank you! And no problem with the questions business. If nobody had been near me to answer my questions I wouldn't know a lot of the things I know today. Plus, I'm a teach and looove answering questions anyway. ;)

I am from the states. I went over to Poland for a total of about 2 years over 3 years. I worked at kids camps, and taught English for 3 semesters. That's where I met Wiola, since she teaches preschool. And thanks, I'll tell her she got compliments on the photo forum. We're 27, and due to be married next spring in Poland. I am moving there in August to live there full time. I got fluent in Polish within 4 months of meeting her, since Wiola doesn't speak much English. It was good motivation. ;)
