I shot this in a place suitably called "The Dungeon". I wasn't sure how well the pic's would turn out due to the poor lighting but gave it my best shot.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.

I got fluent in Polish within 4 months of meeting her, since Wiola doesn't speak much English. It was good motivation. ;)

You got fluent in polish in 4 months??
Not possible, polish is one of the hardest languages to learn...

Ah, skad jestes? Jestes Polak? Mieskalem w Tomaszowie Maz.

I knew I was going over, so I read a book before I went, and learned pronunciation, spelling and how words were set up, but that was it. When I went over I started learning, but only phrases and stuff. Then I met her, and and she only talked to me in Polish, and I just picked the language up. So I was there for about 3-4 months before we started talking, but I really didn't learn much up until I had such good motivation. I had always been good with languages, and after being with her pretty much everyday for like 4 months, I was counting in Polish in my head. I am told this pretty much means fluency. Not that I understand everything, but I can understand enough to know what is going on, even with the crazy fast speakers over there. I lived there another 6 months, and I've been back for a year, so I've forgotten a little bit, but Wiola and I talk over skype just about every other day.

Thanks buddy! I'm loving the solid group we have together! Decided to keep the 1d and get the sigma 24-70 :D

You won't be disappointed. I shot a wedding primarily with this combo, swapping with an 85L here and there.

I rented that beast, man. I would love to own that, but my in-the-mail Sigma 50mm 1.4 has almost as beautiful bokeh, but with much faster and smarter AF.

Also, there is a Sigma 24-70 2.8 for sale here:

Woo hoo! Get someone to "accidentally show up with a camera" and get pics. That's what I did. ;)

I'm happy to say I'm finally getting sharp pics SOOC!

I think my issue has been lighting. It's been so gray and rainy that it's hard to get good light.
I also think I've had to figure out distance with the 1.3 crop. I think I'm having to learn how to use my 50mm all over again!

anyway, here are a few shots.

How do these look? I just did a bit of sharpening for web. I wasn't worrying too much about composition, but I"m pleased with the color. No adjusting of WB at all and the color is exact. These are azaleas that have been bitten by our hard freezes last month. I had one little flower survive and bloom.

this one is cropped pretty good
