You must remember the 1D was the 2nd or 3rd DSLR Canon made.. Of course the newer models will (should, atleast) have more dynamic range.

What do you guys do about white balance? When shooting in Jpeg I mean. I usually have it on 7600K for sunlight which works quite well, I find the auto sensor thing is a bit unreliable.

The Mark II had 11.1 stops, the Mark III 11.45 stops and the Mark IV 11.5.

I would say that the Classic probably has greater than 10 because my G9 has 10 and my 1D seems to better in that regard.

ooohh, lovely! I was wondering if you got it! congrats! Let us know how you like it!

Steve - great shot of the swan!

I've been working more with my XTI and I think I'm learning the camera better. I'm getting some pretty good ones lately. Upping shutter speed and ISO even on still subjects is helping.

One I shot today at an Oldtimers tourney. ISO 1600 with Nik Dfine noise applied.
I absolutely hate gyms without skylights. I couldn't bounce the flash off the ceiling so I shot straight on with a diffused flash.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.

Worked out real well, nice shot for high ISO.Just goes to show if you nail the exposure that old body can still produce some great photos
