Just picked up a 1Ds from KEH for a steal as a back-up to my 5D Mark II, how much of a learning curve should I expect?

not much except when you have to change the mode. but, the focus is worth the learning curve. did you say 1ds?

so ive been told by pop photo and many locals that i cant go under 10MP if im looking to print my pictures but i am really impressed with all of the shots posted and i love the fps this body is capable of. is the 10MP just a stigma? a ploy to sale new bodies?

my real question is: how big would/do you (current 1Dc owners) print? if i can get clear, sharp 8x10 then ill be satisfied

Photography on my budget? WHAT WAS I THINKIN?!

8x10 will be no problem. I've done 11x14 at high ISO with excellent results.

My 1D gives better or as good A4 prints than my 10mp 400D, I just cannot crop as much which makes me frame the shot better .

+1
Printing this size every day without issues. Churns out beautiful 8x10's.

Well, I simply could not stay away. I purchased a mint 1d from a fellow PTONr and then traded it locally for a 1dIII (+ cash). Then, sold the 1dIII for a 5d2. I simply love the 5d2 but really missed having the 1d body and the nice, small images that this body produces. So, sent the guy that has my old 1d an email over the weekend and worked out a deal to buy it back. Can't wait to get it.

Film, suckers.

Love the 1/500 flash sync. Hate the fact that I only have one flash at the moment.

I need to get a back up for my 1D Mark II n and I'm leaning toward the 1D. I'm shooting kids sports on the side. I'm wondering if 4.15 mega pixels would work for client pictures. If they want something bigger than 8x10 I'm kinda screwed. I can't afford another 1D2 n body right now. Would I be OK with a 1D Classic?

Still do team sports with my 1D. Great with the 1/500 flash sync. Most of our clients don't buy larger than 11x14, and you can crank those out all day long without any problems at all. Looks great. Can go larger than that easy, if it's exposed correctly and not cropped. Piece of cake.

I did some 16x20's and they look great. You do need to get it right and no room for cropping.
