Cool to know that this combo works. I recall when I upgraded to the 1D2 that the SIGMA 500mm f/4.5 EX HSM worked great on it too, HOWEVER< the add the 1.4 t-Con to the mix and even though it SHOULD AF (sub f/8) it would not!

It does on the 1D though!

I have same exact story with Sigma's 70-200 F 2.8 (Older - non-chippsed swapped vesion) that works in all modes when attached to 1D Baba but gives lens error with any newer camera body including 5D, Tis, XT, xxDs etc.

Than old chips of Sigma lens is the problem and shame they didn't value their products for a permanent recall/Free rechipps that was started and ended long back.

This is a simple test with my new lens 28mm f/2.8 IS USM

Well if you think that is good it can be made even better with the use of Canons ST-E2 Speedlite tranmitter trigger. Using it on your camera aids autofocus as it will send a beam to pick up focus distance in almost zero light situations.

I may regret it, but I just bought a 1D for the third time. Here's an older (non-keeper) shot from 2011 while I wait for the new camera to arrive.

The "new" 1D arrived a few weeks ago. Today I got to shake the cobwebs off. No regrets! Love that 2001 CCD sensor.

What a shame that this thread is buried in the new forum structure.

I absolutely enjoy the challenges of the tank known as a 1D. Something about the build quality.

I picked up a 1Dc to pair with my 1D2 & 5Dc. Really enjoying the 1Dc as a "who cares" camera. Even performs quite well at ISO 1600! Love the file sizes for RAW. I wish more cameras were available that were lower resolution even with RAW. I'm weird. I don't like shooting in JPG especially on an old camera like this, but I can totally appreciate a smaller file for days when you're just having fun and shooting, faster everything when those file sizes are tiny. I'm digging the 4MP for my "fun" camera. I was able to pick up this 1Dc for about $70 basically. I already had the charger and stuff for my 1D2 so it was just an easy add-on. But a cheap old knocker like this, still punches out decent images for sharing, and it's so cheap I don't care if it falls in the ocean while I'm kayaking. Great old beast.

Definitely putting the old camera to good use with these great captures. Great colors and I still miss those small file sizes compared to my D800 when working in Photoshop. Still miss mine, but maybe I'll pick one up with either a 50 or 85 f1.8 for the heck of it.

I just like the look of the older processors and sensors. The 1D, 1D2, 5Dc, etc. Would love to have more ISO range, but I can live at ISO 3200 on all these cameras (amazing they do ISO 3200 to begin with).

And I absolutely adore the 4MP RAW files. So fast to load and edit. I don't have to resort to low quality pre-compressed JPG to get small file size images for fast processing (with no real intent to print a large print from, so I don't mind!). Definitely a "fun" camera for me.
