I traded my 30d for a 1D and I have enjoyed it so far. The largest I print is 8x10 and the 1D can print 8x10's perfectly. The only downside I see for being half the megapixels is that you cannot really crop. But that doesn't really matter if you compose your shot right.

The only two things you might hate about the 1D is that you will fall in love with the 1D series and you will hate the battery life.

Did you "refresh" your battery? How many shots do you get out of your 1D?

Compared to the MK3, the battery life is shorter but acceptable.

8fps is lush! Of course 10fps would have been cooler but still it worked a treat for this!

Conversion is reduced the blues but still fun!

All shot at ISO 1600. No noise reduction of any kind. Not bad if you ask me.

I will be either trading or selling my two copies of this beast. They are just showing their age for the type of shooting I do. Portraits, wedding, event type stuff. Don't get me wrong, If I could afford to, I would keep at least one of them and get a couple 40d's. The 1d is that good, it is just in certain situations, more meg pix and slightly better iso 1600 would benefit, especially times when I need to print larger than 12x16. Oh and don't forget a lcd that zooms and auto rotates the file.

Oh well so is life.
