save up chief. i loved my mk 1 but got rid of it and will get a mk2 when financing allows. living with my 5d for now. cant get the wife to part with it for a 1ds2. infact...i will skip the 1d2 and go with a 1ds2 as i dont really need the frame rate.

Which is why I opted to rid of my 1D Classic for the 1Ds Classic... ;) When the 1Ds2 price crashes a little more (about $2200, then I'll snatch one)!

Thanks guys :D
What price would you expect it to be around for a 1DMK2 with less than 50,000 clicks?

Got my 1D, what a beast, loving it already, but now i need help with something else.

My walkaround lens on my 400D is the EF-S 17-85, Don't fit the 1D so which lens should i replace it with, i can't afford to keep it and spend out on a new one, there going for around £250 used with hood etc, what do i get??? Any thoughts.

Thanks alot.

Yeah was looking at that one, it's a shame there 17-50 is EF-S fitment because i'd like to go a little wider that the 28. If thats the best option though i'll go with that.

Any more??

Theres always the 17-40 F/4L. limited range but will get you the wider angles. if you want one lens and dont care about cost or weight there is also the 28-300mm L!

I had the Tamron 17-35 f/2.8-4 and it was a great lens.

I currently own the Tammy 17-35 and its pretty decent. I wouldnt stretch to say that it is a good walk around lens on a 1D. It has its place as long as you can live with its limitations such as barrel distortion and weak focusing. although barrel distortion isnt as bad on a 1d as with the 5d. if i could go back i probably would have opted for the 17-40. f4 is plenty fast for that focal length and the extra 5mm and constant aperture is a plus. twice as much money though.

Yes and no. I sold my 40D + grip + Sigma 10-20 here on POTN for $1100 and found the Mark II on Ebay for $1200. The EBay seller just happened to live 20 minutes near me and I contacted him and asked if I could examine the equipment. He let me, I went to his house and examined/shot with the gear and offered him $1050 cash (It would cut down on his paypal/shipping/and EBay fee) on the spot. He happily accepted and I left with a Mark II almost LNIB. :) I lucked out- this sucker only has 30,000 actuations :-)

Now my 1D Classic has a younger brother, LOL.

Heh... that's what I ended up with! 17-40/4L for full weather-sealing protection!
