oh my god, i hate this world :P
yesterday i tested a 1Ds..fell in love with the 1D Body...
But there is alot going on in my mind...will 4Mp fit to me, how bout whitebalace...ettl(is this technique still ok)...please tell me the 1D is still good, and i also read the 1D only i made for 150000 shots...the one i can get has 120000...
HELP....!

I believe the 4mp will fit you. As for white balance, ettl, etc it's just about the same as any other camera.

I would get the 1D if I were you. But that's just me :)

viewfinder should be the same size, and 100% :)

I think the differences between ETTL and ETTL II are minimal in real world usage, if I remember ETTL II is more 'accurate'

So viewfinder looks like the 1Ds VF`? same size?! It was huge on the 1Ds...
Is ETTL still good? will the red af assist light on my flash still work?

i´m just 2% away (from 100%) of getting a 1D :D

Yes. It's the same size

And yes. In One Shot mode, the AF assist light will work.

ETTL is AF point based, ETTL2 is subject based (tries to determine what the subject might be based on the local reflection of the preflash).
For that reason, IMO ETTL (old style) is a bit more predictable sometimes, since you *know* what it's doing. Both work well sometimes, and are crap at other times.

Viewfinder of the 1Ds is 0,7x viewfinder of the 1D is 0,72x.
1D is 1.3 crop, 1Ds is FF. 1Ds has a bigger viewfinder.Thread

So ETTL will work just as good as my ETTl2 on the 40D in most situations.?!
Is the 1D VF bigger than the one on my 40D?

Got a New Offer...
Trade my 40D Body with 1D Body.
Cam has 9000 Shots...really thats all. But he lost all his Accessories in a theft in his business office..i can get there by car and test the cam before buying.

you're just doing a straight trade?

The 40D is still worth more in my book, yes the 1D only has 9000 shots on it, but it seems to me he should be trading cash too with a 1D

i would have to pay arround 500-600€ for a 1D in a condition like this one...and for my 40D Body i only could get 500-600€...my local dealer offered me 650€ incl. the 17-85...
