Clipsal 500 car race in Adelaide, SouthOz. Here a few favourites from my first review of the 300 and something pics I took.

On the track:
Ready, ready.......

Ground level

Battle scarred

In the air:
IMAGE: http://touring4x4.com/Andrew/Clipsal500%202009%20-%20air/slides/clips09air01.jpg

With a Canon 1D at 8.5 frames per second and the 150-500 stabilised lens its like shooting fishing in a barrel.
Although I try to avoid "spray and pray" sometimes thats the best solution. :D

All pics were handheld as I didnt take the monopod.

Grid girls, etc to follow ;)

I'd probubly love it, but what i want out of a new body the 1D Classic doesnt -completely- give me..so once the new wore off id probubly be grabbing the 30D

For one im very crop happy sometimes...the halving of resolution -would- hurt no matter how good it is..

I also want a bigger rear screen and live view for some of my shooting...

And better high ISO noise performance

But then again, i miss the interface on my EOS3 which is the same as on the 1D....

And the AF...

Kinda warring between a 1D Mk2, a 5D or a 50D right now..too many good choices in Canon's lineup!

My next purchase will probably be a mark II. While the 1D is great, and it has paid for it's self already, there are some short comings. Most noticeable for me, would be green tint in JPEG's. When I shoot something, I either have to set up at action in PS that removes the green, or just convert the raws to jpegs.

nick, I just did it with my mac, it's under the remote shooting > settings (lower right 'tools' Icon), then just manually add the tones, I'm went with the vbssbh for a linear curve.

or what tone curve is suggested for RAW images?

I have a 1D on the way - could not resist the lure of trying a professional level body - even one that is as old as the 1D. When you look at the features of the 1D in many areas - it seems that it was way ahead of its time.

Looking forward to seeing what I can do with this thing once it arrives.

congratiolations to your 1D...whats the condition like?
I´m amazed every day when taking pictures about the quality of the 1D...it´s 5 Years old but produced very good images.

Thanks - I am pretty excited about it as well. Condition looks really good from what I can tell in the pics in the for sale ad on another forum. It's a high serial number 023XXX and has about 33K actuations on the shutter. Seems like I'm getting on that will not have any high iso banding and has tons of life left in it for sure.

Great pics, thanks for posting. I sure wish we had more series like that in the US. All our TV networks will show is NASCAR. Ugh.
