Great pics, thanks for posting. I sure wish we had more series like that in the US. All our TV networks will show is NASCAR. Ugh.

Come on - NASCAR is THE largest spectator sport in the country.......;)

Yeah, I know it's very popular, I just wish road racing had as big a following as circle track. I'm tired of getting up so early to watch F1 races, although Tivo has helped.

congratiolations to your 1D...whats the condition like?
I´m amazed every day when taking pictures about the quality of the 1D...it´s 5 Years old but produced very good images.

1D will be 8 years old in September... :p

Im thinking about picking up one again but the MKII is getting almost as cheap as 1D was last year. I am having little luck in finding an original. I guess folks would rather stick them in a closet than give them up dirt cheap.

I would like to move to a Mk II over the next year as I can put the funds together. Looks to me like you can get clean copies for around $1000 US. (This is assuming that I can get used to the 1D interface after my classic arrives today or tomorrow.)

If you are looking for a 1D MK I - I would suggest Fred Miranda's site - there seems to be more pro-level bodies for sale on that buy and sell board than here on POTN on any given day. That is where I found mine. I actually think that there are a few out there in current posts that have not been grabbed.

I'm starting to get the hang of the menus on the 1D. The screen is really poor to do anything but review general exposure and color balance....and to read the histogram. I'm also going to have some biceps after using this thing for a while......the weight is really significant compared to a XXD model. Not bad....just very different.

Yeah, it takes a while to get used to her. :) It weighs more than just a XXD with a grip doesnt it? Coming from a 30D you probably wont like the screen as much and no zoom in review, and poor ISO performance in comparison. But for 8 years old that old bird had a lot in its day.

My next purchase will probably be a mark II. While the 1D is great, and it has paid for it's self already, there are some short comings. Most noticeable for me, would be green tint in JPEG's. When I shoot something, I either have to set up at action in PS that removes the green, or just convert the raws to jpegs.

Same... Already saving for a mk II now that I have all the other junk I need.

I use 2gb cards myself, Its nice with the small file sizes I find though when I connvert them that I need to view them in DPP i need them full size to accurately see how good and sharp they are as preview seems very pixelated.

On another note I shot at a wedding yesterday in afternoon sun and whilst using the crappy LCD on my dinosaur I had ton's of glare and god know's how I deleted everything  many of the shots were looking very nice (IMO) and looked at least promising but are now gone :(......glad I was not the official photographer aye!

Warning: Muppets operating 1D's not reccommended unless supervised .

There's a good chance you can recover the shots unless you used the card afterwards.

Yes thanks alot, I have just done some searches and got Recuva software which once a deep search for compressed files was done, has managed to recover all the files for me :).....currently if not very slowly it's putting them onto my HD so I will look forward to seeing what they look like ;).
