You can see the example below.

I shot it using my 1DMkII @ ISO 400, f/9 at 1/125. This is a Mac screen cap of the Lightroom Before/After comparison function. No other correction was applied. PNG from the screen cap was simply saved for web and devices at JPEG quality 79 to keep image below the 150kb upload threshold.

Most noticeable in the image is the better saturation in the red/magenta, with a slight desaturation of cyan.

The colors are much closer to what I saw when I took the shot.

Again, please forgive the lack of other corrections, but I was just interested in the raw color.

Does anyone know how do save these values in Lightroom so it can load as the default settings every time?

Yes, you can do this.

First, go to the Develop Pane enter values relevant to your camera profile into the Camera Calibration, Tone Curve and Basics sections at the right of the main window. Next, while still in the Develop pane, save your presets by clicking the plus ("+") sign under the Presets area to the left of the main window, and save your entries as a "User Preset" when asked by the dialog box. In the resulting dialog (shown below), name your preset, and save with the indicated checkboxes checked.

To use the preset, in the Develop pane, go to Presets, scroll to find the one you created, and click it to apply.

That should do it!

These cost $15 per camera but well worth it in my book: camera profiles (external link)

He doesn't have the profile for the 400d xti. Any other suggestions?

He used to, as that's the one he sold me! Unfortunately, it was worse than useless - maybe that's why they've been withdrawn...

no I did not try those settings rene as the op stated it sometimes blew out the reds. I contacted E.J. and he offered to to my camera for n/c except shipping. Is this a good idea? I thought if he used my camera and I gotta pay the shipping to and from It would cost me more that way than to just wait for him to come out with a profile from someone elses camera b/c shipping is going to run more than $15.00 the which is program cost.

It might cost you a little more but the calibration would be exact to your camera instead of using numbers from another camera that would get you close but not exact.

Do you need to have a calibration profile for each lens you own? I know my 18-55 kit lens captured colors quite a bit differently from my 17-50 Tamron.

Theoretically you could I presume...
I wouldn't: The profile is for the camera. The color difference between lenses is not so huge as the difference between calibrated and not...

I was always under the impression that the color calibration was very specific to your camera and lighting conditions. I don't believe (but could be wrong) that two people with the exact same cameras and lenses can use the same calibration settings and get the same results. Here's a link to a script that will profile the color made with a specific target reference and will give you the suggested settings for that reference. The values will change from location to location. I personally just use a custom white balance made with either my expodisc or whibal... and leave that section set to all zeros and that gets me where I want to be colorwise. I have been accused of being oversaturated on occcasion.. even undersaturated once or twice... but I've never been accused of having incorrect colors... I'm sure calibration would dial me in to exact precision, but I don't really do much where color has to be that dead on. Besides... I use more than one camera so calibrating photoshop to one camera would most likely mess me up with the other cameras.

It seems that calibration values are hard to find for the 400D/Xti. I guess the higher-end camera users are more fussy/interested in calibration. :)

Anyway, for the lack of anything else, I tried René's values for his 1D2 in the first post and they seem to work well, especially for the greens in foliage, which seem to come out a bit yellowish with the ACR4.4 default values.
