It seems like that UV(N) filters are much cheaper than the UV(0)'s

Anybody know why?

I cannot seem to find the difference?

Apparently the UV(N) are "said" to be cheap non-optical glass filter for the Asian market. UV(O) are proper optical glass. If going for Hoya get the SHMC Pro1 (digital) clear protectors or UV(O). More info about filter in the protective filter FAQ linked in my sig.

You probably need to do careful resolution testing. Something else to look for with long lenses at least is odd bokeh in areas of a shot that are just going out of focus.

As I say this is sort of hearsay, UV(N) is not documented anywhere in the documentation I have seen.
