Red Spots!

Hi there,
I am new to the forum and new to my S51 IS...I am still
getting used to camera and have only really used auto mode
so far.
I took some cold morning sunise photos and each one had a
blurry red spot on it...Not in the same area or same intensity.
I don't know how to post photos here yet so this is a link

I would appreciate info on why this happened and how I can
avoid it in the future.

Its flare caused by the angle with the sun. Are you using a filter?

That's flare from the light bouncing between the lens elements. Don't use a filter, keep the lens clean, & you will see less of it when you point at a bright light source.
Expensive lenses help to some extent.

Hi T,
I don't have any filters yet...The sun was so obscured by the haze
that it didn't look like it would be a problem....I have taken lots of
sunrise and sunset pictures with other p & s cameras but have not seen
this effect.
Are filters just snap~on items?
Any suggestions for removing the red from pics?

Hi Frank,
I haven't had this happen with other cameras...
Is it something inherent to my S51?
Any ideas on how to remove it...I use PS CS2 at about intermediate skill level.

Maybe you were lucky. Maybe it was in an area where it didn't show.
Maybe...

Or screw on.

Several ways.
A. Clone tool is probably the simplest. Or...
B. Clone tool set to a blend mode. Or...
C. Select the area & use selective color to desaturate the red.
