My son just deleated my card by formatting, and now the screen is blank in shoot mode. Did he possibly change a setting? I tried another card and new batteries, same thing. I am pretty new to it, and have relied on him!!(16years old)

Yes, the picture is just black, it advances and the "picture" is blank.

You may also check the command dial and see if the camera is in M (manual) setting - your manual exposure settings may be way off, which causes the picture to be black on the screen. Switch the dial to P mode and see what happens.
