Nothing spectacular, but I thought I'd share. It was a nice, sunny day for a change. The Goldeneye was taken off Wilson Tuscarora State Park in the Town of Wilson, NY and the Pheasant was taken along Meadville Road at the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge.

We also saw a Northern Mockingbird, some Snow Buntings and possible Horned Larks along the Lake Ontario plains, and Northern Harriers and a Bald Eagle at the refuge, but they were too far away to get any good shots.

Common Goldeneye

Nice shots Carl. The pheasant seems to have a pattern I haven't seen before.

Thanks Ray. He looked cold. We saw him on the edge of the road and then he walked up over the snow to be close to the reeds. He was in full shadow there too. I'm happy with the 'save' I got from RAW and PS CS3.

Thanks Gary. The Goldeneyes were very skittish. I had a bit of a snowbank to hide behind, but they still saw me right away and started moving offshore. The pheasant was a surprise for us too. It's been awhile, but this area is close to an old game farm where they bred the birds for hunting, so maybe this guy is one of the fortunate ones.

Thanks Mitch. I agree. His coloration around the head is a bit different than the textbook examples.
