Seeing that i dont have much else to post right now and it's been quite some time i'll post up some basketball we shot yesterday .....but first let me tell you about the gym ...

HUGE windows on one side .... with no outlets... (dangit) and on the otherside bricks...... roof was a decent color ... flat with acoustic pannels that throw funny shadows but thats not the worst part..... my mouth was literally open when i walked in this gym ... they had ugly green dim lights and 5 bright yellow ones mixed in ....

For fun i pulled out the light meter .... ISO 6400 f2.8 1/250  ..... it was quite odvious that we were going to have to use strobes ..... after a quick talk with one of the officals i walked back out to the truck with an EVIL grin on my face..... ;)

up went to AB1600's at the corners of the court (behind the hoop) .... i would have liked to have spread them out and changed the direction a bit more but i had no choice and only 5 min b4 the start of the game for a complete setup ... so up they went pocket wizards attached and here is what i got....

Me thinks it's time for some long throw reflectors + one more strobe !

your feedback appreciated as allways !!

Mark III+ 70-200IS + ISO 400 1/250th f4

I REALLY like numbers two and three.
On number two I really like all the different ranges of emotion on the kids faces, as every person has a different way of expressing it on their faces.

On number three I really like the one kids expression, as well as how all of his concentration is shown. I also like how it looks like hes balancing on his toes. Its kind of different than a high flyer in the air.

Toph, the headband is a classic! Not sure why you'd need another light but it got me curious for sure. I think you did great with these and I'm stunned that you put it all up and got rolling in such little time. Well done bud!

Thanks for looking guys .... The headband made me smile for sure !!! .... About the 3'd light.... i really just want one for a backup and if space permits i might be able to shoot it towards half court and get a bit more light down at the other end.

Yeah, what Merciez said.
My grandson plays at that level and some of their expressions are hilarious.

Did you mount your lights on stands or clamps?

Nice shots. I will probably need to use a similar setup at an indoor netball game soon which leads me to this question. Do you use the bear flash or do you put filters on them to soften the light?

Thanks in advance.

John

No gels or light modifiers other than the standard 7 inch reflectors that came with them pointed @ the roof..... went with the bounce flash
