They wouldn't just leave it since B&H requires a signature.

dont you have to sign for things that are paid for like that?
I would call UPS and find out if they have it or if someone signed for it.

Not when I ordered from them. They shipped the stuff in multiple boxes and left it at my doorstep. I didn't order expensive stuff though (Nifty-Fifty, hood and adapter, rocket blower, PecPads).

That said, even if they did require signature, what's to say if they shipped it to the wrong address the person at that addy wouldn't sign for it?

Troubleshooting 101 (see also: LightRules,perryge):
1) RTFM.
2) Repeat Step 1.

I was afraid this would happen to me with my new camera on the way now! UPS leaves stuff at my doorstop when I am not home. I don't trust UPS with my new camera. Thats why I had it delivered to my work instead. It's more safe that way. Hope you find your lens!

Ordered 85L from Adorama last Tuesday. Arrived Friday. UPS rang the doorbell and was visible disappearing into the brown truck when the door was opened. 5D was left on the porch with no one home a few months ago. Has always been that way. However, I live in a gated neighborhood and my guess is that thefts are very rare. I doubt UPS would do that in condos/apts. due to visibility or neighborhoods where they had frequent problems. Point is, they will leave an expensive package without a sig in some cases.

This is very simple. Contact BH. If they shipped "signature required" then you have a chance at recompenseIf they did not, you are screwed.

Check the UPS site again - if a signature is required it will show the name of the person who signed. I sometimes receive items for my neighbor. Perhaps the driver left it with a neighbor?

For items under a certain amount, UPS does not require a signature. If you have a big purchase, UPS will not leave it without instructions. That's why it's crucial you have a relationship with your UPS delivery person. I know when packages are to be delivered and leave a note to where I want the box left or who can sign for it in case I am not home. I've left notes for the UPS man to drive the package to my work down the street and still part of his route. He doesn't mind doing that since he needs a signature and he knows someone in the office will sign for it. Just look around and leave a note next time. I haven't lost anything yet. :)

We had a new driver one day, they left the package at the neighbor's house. We needed it right away, no one could find it, the company we ordered from sent another item out overnight to us. The next day we were told by UPS that the driver left the package at the neighbor's house, went and asked her and she goes "Oh, I meant to bring it over and I forgot." Wish they had just left it in the darn garage that time.

Hopefully B&H use insurance when they ship. I had an Amazon box stolen from my front door, and they were great about it. Replaced everything with no question, and upgraded shipping on the replacement to make sure it arrives in time. Be interesting to see how B&H react.

UPS is automatically insured up $100, I believe. What lens was it?

Same here that I sign for my neighbors or they do the same for me. UPS would leave a note letting you know where your package was left at. If no note then it was left at the front door. If UPS came and you weren't home, took your item back with them for the next delivery. You would get a note for redelivery date.
