Noticed there was no archive for this lens.

Don't actually own one, but had the chance to use one for a couple of days.

f/1.8, bounced 580EXII

What's the closest focus distance? It looks like you are getting quite close to your subjects.

MFD is 20 cm / 7.8 inches.
To me it seems adequate for wedding macro work, ring shots etc - wouldn't suggest bug-hunting with this lens though :)

but the size of the lens is pretty darn big (as compared to similar competiting lenses)!

I think so, the AF leaves much to be desired, but the optics and the bokeh are good and so is the price.
