Yeah :(

I kinda came to the conclusion that I'd wait till the end of the year and see what's around then. I'd want something primarily for movies, but Lucille (much better half) would also like to be able to slideshow photos on it too (I guess I'd build a little HTPC), and the brightness of the room is also a factor (LCDs are better in bright rooms). It all became a bit to much for me :D

I think I'll end up with a Kuro though.

Finally, after so many pages, I am up to date. :)

Nice shots, everyone - Paul and Greg in particular.

Either there's something weird going on with your white balance, or they used one of those stupid "gold" reflectors here...grrr...I hate those things.

Greg_C wrote in post #5077362 (external link)
Thanks.

hehehe, gold reflector it is. I rather like them on Asian skin tones. Don't think they work as well on fair skin.

I like those gold reflectors. When used wisely, they can be effective.

Maybe a night shoot monday the 17th? I really want to make it up to brissy before I go and say goodbye to my mates there and have one last brissy meet, just have to see how things are going, but we're pretty much finished packing now.

I'd be in.

lol

I dont get asked for ID any more though. Kinda takes a bit of the fun out of being 18

'night John

I'm almost 20 and have only been asked for ID less than ten times. Although to be honest, I don't buy much alcohol.

Rob, pass me my 12-24. I think we need another lecture on the 12-24mm. The 12-24mm ain't no 16-35mm II (one of my babies) but this lens is all about versatility!

Speaking of which... I'll need to return that before I go down to Melbourne. I leave Thursday the 20th. If you're working Monday, I can arrange to meet you if we aren't having a PotN meetup.

Usable, it is a beauty full frame.

You go from this 12mm on 5d.
QUOTED IMAGE

Nice shot there Helen. I went to that location and stood in that stuff you're standing on and slowly sank! It seems to be a cross between sand and mud. I'll call it "smud":D

...and UQ is the university for the dream world. ;)

Uh... I was going to embed a whole bunch of photos from Pullenvale but I thought it would be better to link to the whole lot of them on my Flickr. Clicky clicky (external link). :)

EDIT: Link now goes to a slideshow. :)

EDIT #2: All those photos were taken with Paul's 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM. Thanks Paul... They're way better quality than what I'd have gotten with the POS 75-300... :p

Apparently UQ used to be at Gardens Point before they created their nation state at St. Lucia. After they "declared their independence" QIT moved in.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to QUT's Carseldine campus now that Vice Chancellor Coaldrake decided it's not cool anymore. I had a ball at that campus when I was there - it has a nice country feel to it.

Yeah, UQ moved in when the Governor moved out. Eventually though, Gardens Point became too small to house a real university so they moved to St Lucia and now they have a multitude of campuses all over the place.

Can't say I've ever been there.
