Meanwhile, just doing some family history research and so0oo much is available on the net now. Census records, old phone book entries. Found the listing for my Dad's aunt and uncle from about 1960-1980, same address, same phone no.

My wife has a hand-drawn page that a priest (from her parents' province in Italy) put together - the Formica family tracing back to 1700!

ROFL! I have my family on my dad's side going back to a bit before 874....

My brother, well one of them he and his uni mates (from the day) still run their IRC channel from when they were at uni.

Oh, morning!

How about some 10-20 wideness, with majoral distortion. Even PSPX2 perspective correction struggled with this one - ended up with mostly sky and a tiny bit of building......

Kids these days! Bah, in my day we used WAIS, Archie and Gopher 'cause there was none of this fancy World Wide Web stuff.
Email was king, but if you wanted to chat online it was IRC or for smaller groups on the same server, talk or the slightly better ytalk. NNTP (usenet) was the forum of the time.

Do you remember the netfetch days? Used to use it all the time to get shareware.

The others seem to like it, so it might just be me, but it does appear a bit flat on my screen. Her skin also looks a little too blue to me.

If you'll permit me, this is the sort of toning I would go for. But then, I do like a much warmer look to shots like this.

Thanks Nick, yeah that looks better.

I was talking to a guy i used to work with on msn yesterday and he transfered from griffith to qut at the start of the semester. He said that him and his friends had a friend in the library that set up a proxy server for them so they could do whatever they wanted with the uni internet.

The sad thing is, the uni found out and shut it down :(

Can't say I ever used netfetch. My early internet access was either via a dumb terminal or sometimes an x-terminal at Uni, or via a 1200/300 bps modem connection (to uni - soon upgraded to 2400) - downloading software over that was something you really thought about.

we usied to use netfetch from, PDP11 computers running mail software and you'd send a mail message to an addy with a netfetch command inthe body and then you receive the program as a series of attachemnts. You then had to put them back together again using dos binary copy.

Amazing, isn't it - all that seemed such a short time ago.

Now we're stuck with a dumb OS ;):p (albeit improving each revision). And no - this isn't an invite to start slagging Windoze..... Or "extolling the virtues" of the Big A
