Wouldn't help keep the bank manager at bay, though!

Tell me about it - I decided that I need to do something with this darn PC and priced up replacement parts last night (roughly $1,000). Alas, the cheapest Mac came in at $1,680 :(
Guess I'll be sticking with the PC for a while longer.

Go to the home page of POTN, scroll down (you can scroll on a Mac? ;) ) to the Sharing.Knowhow section, to General Chat heading, click that and then look for the Brisbane POTN Coffee.... etc entry, and click on the number in the "replies" section - sitting at about 3192 or so.

Alternatively, you can click the number of posts on an updated thread in your User CP.

Cant remember if i mentioned it before, but we are going to Q1 on the coast for a planning field trip in 2 weeks. The whole thing is for a photo journal and as soon as i read about it, i was like, yesss...

The lecturer said today that we get time after going up Q1 to walk around surfers and take more photos.

So while i may not come home with anything useful for my assignment, i should have some decent photos lol

Well, at least you'd have visual aides for the assignment. ;)

Uh oh, you broked it. Nah, try resetting the cookies in your browser. That happens to me sometimes but it usually loads properly and it goes away. Take a look in your user CP and see if any of the options have been changed.

Thanks Sam. :)

Sure there is, I *like* OSX.

However, an upgrade will do for now... looking at either an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 or an Athlon 64 x2 5200+ and associated m/b, psu, new case (I suspect my current one has cooling issues), 2Gb ram, nVidia 8600GT and a 500Gb hdd.

Should be a reasonable speed improvement over the Celeron 2.4Ghz ( Socket 478 ), 1Gb ram and dodgy 250Gb drives I currently have.

The thing is, a Mac lasts longer :) doesn't get all bogged down with viruses and spyware etc, and... and... and... it's at least 20% more better!!

Oh I know - I have a 2001 iBook that's still going nicely (if very slowly by today's standards).

Ah, one day I'll have a shiny new Mac... in the meantime I wonder if I can get Leopard to run on my new hardware (when it arrives).

I gotta admit.. I liked my mac.

OH I posted something about 2 thread ago (:)) asking if you still wanted that board :|

nforce3 board with x2-4400+ in s939 format.

probably best if you make me an offer? Takes AGP... SATA, etc etc... just no good with ATI AGP if you're going to run Vista.

Let me know

I do too, and ive never used it.

Although a guy in my courses at uni said it best yesterday...

Macs are good for people who dont know a thing about computers. If you do know something about using computers and you then get a mac, you end up dumbing yourself down because it does the thinking for you.

I laughed a bit lol.

But the reason no one bothers writing viruses for them is because no one cares about them

Oh and ive noticed that a mac is superseded faster than a pc is (hard to believe i know...)

I know nothing about computers. :p Well, I know a bit, but not really anything in the grand scheme of things.

But the reason no one bothers writing viruses for them is because no one cares about them

Ironic, huh? The people who care not about what they can do to their computer, but rather what it can do for them are the ones who need not worry about it not doing anything.

Oooh, now I don't know. Darn... I figured an AM2 board might be a little more future-proof, but there's really no such thing these days. That's not to say I couldn't use it though. It takes DDR2 I presume ?
How's $80 sound ? (no idea myself)

Not true though - Macs are great for people who know a lot about PCs or Unix boxen and are tired of having to fight with what is essentially a tool to get things done. Macs just work - no farting around with them. AND as a bonus they're based on BSD :)

Well i knew that. But i really didnt think he would have had a clue what i would have been talking about if i started going on about it being BSD based and UNIX and so on...
